b'SELF CARE GUIDE|Practicing Self-CareDuring A PandemicBeing mindful of our everyday health is important while avoiding illnessBy Joe DarrahI ts quite ironic that following guidance to remain healthy during a global healthcare crisis can be so fraught with other significant healthcare dangers. From anxiety and fatigue to depression and weight gain, the consequences related to stay-at-home quarantines and social distancing can take mental and physical forms. While one would be hard pressed to imagine a reality where theres a worst-case scenario thats different than contracting the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), that is not to say that those who avoid the virus will be truly healthy when our new normal surfaces. For healthcare providers, the added impact of actu-ally having to be in direct contact with COVID-19 when not at home creates much greater risk to safety and health in all facets imaginable, not to mention the need to try to remain healthy in order to care for the sickest of patients. There are ways to miti-gate the various dangers that are unassociated with COVID-19 contraction, however, through concerted self-care efforts.ISTOCK4 ELITEHEALTH GUIDE|2019| www.elitecme.com'
